In September 2012, 30 children will be going to school for the first time. We will be taking a team to share in this incredible experience and get to know these precious children, ages 4-6. While there we will also be setting up the child sponsorship program. Similar to other programs, for $44.00 a month, a sponsored child will be able to go to school where they will be safe and well-cared for. They will receive two meals a day and an education, with all the materials (including a uniform and school supplies) needed.
Sponsors will have the opportunity to write to their child regularly, to receive at least annual pictures and updates on the child’s progress in school, and even to visit them! Awake and Alive’s goal is to sponsor 30 children the first year, 60 the second, and 90 the third.
There is nothing like sponsorship to connect you and your family to an impoverished child across the world. Karl and Danielle visited their sponsored child Mekides and her mother in 2009 when they went to Ethiopia for the adoption of their daughter and were deeply impacted.
