Do you love books? Could you ever have enough of them? Or do you have some books you want to buy as gifts? How about getting what you need or want and having it go towards a great cause at the same time? Isn’t that just the best of both worlds?!? Well, the folks at Christian Books Bibles have agreed–willingly and excitedly, I might add–to help us out. Or, I should say, to help the children out in Kechene, Ethiopia. You see, between now and January, if you go to their website (http://www.christianbooksbibles.com/) and place an order, you will also be giving to Awake and Alive, helping us reach our goal to start a school for vulnerable children ages 4-9 in the capital city. Here’s how it’ll look:
1. Go to ChristianBooksBibles.com
2. Order your items.
3. At checkout, enter the promo code (AWAKE&ALIVE)
4. If your order is $50 or more, you get free shipping on what is already one of the cheapest sites for new books around, and we get a portion of the profits!
You see how it’s a win-win? So, what are you waiting for: GO ORDER SOME BOOKS!

On Wednesday, August 3, Jolene and Danielle will be guests in Chicago on Moody Radio’s This is the Day live broadcast with Nancy Turner. We are SO excited for this opportunity to share our vision and raise awareness. You can listen live here at 10am Central Time on August 3, or we’ll also try to have the mp3 up on this site soon after the fact. Thank you for your prayers and support as we share Awake and Alive with others.

We’ve been doing so much with the blog, we forget to update things on the main website! This summer has been BUSY with lots of activity. After the garage sale, the Xstop project held it’s first annual event in Mishawaka, IN where we got to connect with local organizations making a difference in the community. Then, we’ve continued to try to come up with ideas to raise money for the people of Kechene so that we can start a school in September 2012. Throw in meetings and planning and goal-setting and more connection-making, and it feels like there’s always something going on! We’ll try to do a better job here filling you in on what’s going on!

We have our first annual garage sale scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, 2011 at 18433 Mandi Lane in Goshen, IN. We need your help! Volunteer for set-up, tear down, work the sale itself, donate items, spread the word, and come buy! We are so excited to raise money for Bright Future, the amazing organization we’ve partnered with so that they can open up another facility in another impoverished community in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to help children and their widowed mothers.
Donations of tools, exercise equipment, TVs, furniture, big baby stuff, DVDs are all things we have had success selling in the past, but if you have something else to help, please do! We even have some ladies cooking yummy goodies to sell. We’re looking forward to to it. Hope to see you there!
